Position: Educare Assistant Teacher – Infants and Toddlers

Reports to: Lead Teacher
Type of Position: Full Time* (40 hours per week)
The Assistant Teacher works cooperatively with the Teacher to plan and implement the daily education program for the children. Under the supervision of the Teacher, the Assistant Teacher will ensure that the education program is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of children as mandated by Head Start, state and local standards. In the absence of the Teacher, the Teacher Assistant takes responsibility for the management of the classroom.
*This full time position includes summer programming (staffing to be determined by parent demand). Scheduled breaks and holidays will be based on the program calendar and coincide – as feasible – with the agency and other program calendars.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Assistant Teacher is supervised by the Lead Teacher in collaboration with the Master Teacher.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a minimum of 27 semester hours of credit in Early Childhood or Child Development and a minimum of six months experience teaching in an early childhood programs.
Candidates with 1 year or less toward completing the required degree program, and two years experience in a relevant early childhood group setting will also be considered.
