Library Resource Aide
Our Books for Kids Library is in need of “helping hands”. Help staff keep library in order, unpack, place and place books and other donated materials. Assist students, parents and educational staff with reading materials and other literacy resources.
Ongoing Opportunity, Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tutors
Tutors work one-on-one with youth ages 6-16 with homework help, building reading comprehension, writing, and math skills and personal development tasks and activities centered around decision-making, responsibility, and life skills.
September – May, Monday – Friday 3:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m.
Health Screenings
Next Door provides various health screenings including dental, blood pressure, vision, hearing and iron to all children enrolled in Next Door Charter School and The Educare Center of Milwaukee. Volunteers working with the School Nurse would assist in providing these screenings as well as compiling a database for follow-up calls. This opportunity is appropriate for healthcare professionals and nursing students.
September – May, Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
Health Aide
Assist our School Nurse with maintaining health records, health screenings, filing, event planning (dental days) and data entry. This opportunity is a great way to gain some general medical office experience. This opportunity is appropriate for internship and nursing students.

Kitchen Aide
Assist our staff in the planning and preparation of snacks and meals.
Book Buddies
Spend some quality time with a young child reading to them for 30 minutes and sharing your love of reading. Develop a one-on-one relationship with a child or two by reading with them every week. We'd like every child to have their own special Book Buddy. No special skills needed but a desire to share a love of books and reading with a child.
September – May, Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
Classroom Aide
NDCS seeks caring individuals who enjoy interacting with children. Should be responsible, patient and reliable. Need help weekdays, Monday - Thursday, either 8am - noon or 1pm - 4:30pm. Asking for at least 2 hours or more per week. Minimum age is 18. Assist in the classroom with children, ages 3-5 years. Help set up art activities for the children, play games, read stories, sing songs, serve meals/snacks, help with outdoor play and assist with field trips.
