More than 150 corporations, foundations, churches and services organizations support our work.
In 2007, Next Door received private contributions from more than 1,000 donors. In addition to the many individuals who made donations, more than 150 corporations, foundations, churches and services organizations supported our work.
A donor can make a gift to help underwrite program operating expenses or designate a specific program or project as the recipient. Next Door actively looks for project, program and general support from a combination of current and new private/public sources in order to maintain program quality and continue organizational growth.
Next Door has maintained a strong group of donors who have supported the organization for 15 or more years. Some of them made their first gift when the organization was “next door” to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Over the years, a number of these long-time friends have made additional capital and endowment contributions, and a few have joined Next Door’s Planned Giving Society.
For the third year in a row, the annual Walk for Children raised over $100,000 for Next Door programs in 2007. More than 350 sponsors, pledge raisers and friends of Next Door made gifts.
In order to provide essential services for Milwaukee central city families, Next Door relies on both public and private funding. Our budget for the 2008 fiscal year ending June 30, 2008 approaches $7.5 million, of which approximately 70% comes from public funding and 30% from private donations.
Most public grants require some type of agency match, and private revenues count toward the match. Private funds also help cover the gap between public funding and actual program costs.
