The Adult Education and GED Program is designed to meet the academic, professional, and personal needs of both its adult basic education and GED student participants.

In addition, the program works individually with adult learners to develop job seeking skills, build the self-confidence and gain the expertise needed for securing and maintaining a job.
 
Upon entry into the program, students complete a math, reading, and writing assessment to determine their individual academic needs.  Based on the initial assessment results, instructors create individual learning plans for all the academic areas tested.  New students meet with their assigned instructor to: determine a plan of individualized study; discuss any barriers that might hinder regular attendance and develop strategies to diminish their impact; and identify support services for resolving special learning needs if needed.

Based on current research into the ways adults learn to read and the methods that bring the best response, our developmental reading program addresses a wide range of reading problems that matches each learners assessed reading level.  Our learners’ strengths and needs cut across all aspects of the reading spectrum, and the reading program provides learners with different mixes of instructional approaches for more efficient and balanced instruction.  The reading selections pertain to high-interest topics of relevance to adults.
