Birth to Three is a home-based early intervention and support program for families of young children with developmental delays. The program acts as a liaison between child, family and specialized therapists, helps families develop goals and monitors progress toward goal attainment.

All families enrolled in Birth to Three receive on-going service coordination.  A Service Coordinator serves as the family’s single point of contact, helping the family obtain the services that are needed. Part of this role includes facilitating coordination and access, monitoring timely delivery of services, and informing parents of the availability of community resources and advocacy services, as they are needed.

The program seeks to include all family members and offers a variety of bi-monthly family educational and recreational activities at the Next Door center. Parents learn from each other and enhance their personal decision-making and problem-solving skills as they share their experiences. Educational programs include speakers on child development issues and the various community resources that are available to participating families. The program activities include parent-child field trips, holiday celebrations, hands on family projects (cooking, crafts), and socialization activities for the parents.

The activities are done in partnership with other early childhood programs at Next Door, including Early Head Start, Educare, and Head Start.  Through these joint activities, children in Birth to Three have the opportunity to be involved in the community with “typically developing” peers.
