Fatherhood

The primary goal of the Conscious Fathering program is to provide basic infant care skills and encouragement to men on the eve of fatherhood. We want to assist fathers to become better parents and to be strong leaders in their community.

The current Fatherhood updates are as follows:

Fathers under Construction next workshop date is May 22, 2010. The Fatherhood program will be hosting Fathers in Support of Breastfeeding workshop on June 3, 2010 in the Educare training room. The Man to Man group will be hosting an Infant Brain Development workshop on May 26, 2010 with special guest educator Ms. Deborah McNelis of the company called Braininsights. The AS ONE program is June 5th & 12th, 2010.

How can the NDF fatherhood program help me?

Our outreach can assist you in many ways. As a participant in our fatherhood program you will not only learn how to become an even better parent, but you will receive one on one assistance with navigating the vast amount of community resources available to you.

Fathers Program Conscious Fathering Workshop:

The Conscious Fathering Workshop also provides valuable information on safety for your newborn, infant brain development, parent to parent communication tips.

  • Helpful tips on bonding with your baby
  • Dads and Breastfeeding
  • Protecting and providing for your baby as a new father
  • Learn C.P.R. ( Consistent, Predictable, Reliable ) parenting skills

Man to Man Group:

  • Share life experiences—how we are affected by them and how we deal with them.
  • Discussion topics that assist in self-awareness and modeling positive parenting.
  • Special guest speakers addressing topics of wholistic fathering (social, mental, physical, and spiritual)
  • Diversity (in thought, and cultural)
  • Seek new answers…ask new questions
  • Intergenerational mentoring for teen dads
  • Gain employability skills
  • Job and career resources
  • Entrepreneurial resources

Man to Man group meets every other Wednesday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
