Leaders of Tomorrow

Next Door’s Leaders of Tomorrow after-school program provides a safe-place for Milwaukee central city youth age 6-16 to go when school is not in session.  The Leaders of Tomorrow program serves Milwaukee central city children and youth by offering a variety of educational and productive learning experiences.

A dedicated and professional staff helps young people understand the many benefits which come from developing an attachment to family and an interest in school.

Leaders of Tomorrow raises student achievements and strengthens the surrounding neighborhood by:

        • Supporting school-day learning
        • Teaching leadership and encouraging relationships with like-minded peer
        • Reducing drug, alcohol and tobacco use through a research-based curriculum
        • Building family identity
        • Expanding the frequency of math, science and literacy interactions
        • Integrating technology into all program experiences

By structuring activities, raising student expectations, and tying program experiences to real life situations, the program hopes that children will develop the attributes and the knowledge for success.  The program now seeks to not only reduce and prevent negative and dangerous behaviors, but also to move children and youth to an understanding of the positive attributes needed in school and in life.

The program operates school days (Monday - Friday) from 2:30 pm to 9:00 pm and at least one Saturday each month from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Activities also take place during all school breaks (summer break, spring break, banking days, parent/teacher conferences, etc.).
